Then the casino took over the parking areas with their own parking structures, and that was still ok.īut unfortunately, the area became a hangout for the troublemakers. The casino came to town and it became even better. We would love to hang out there on the weekends. Before the casino, it was standing room only in any of the restaurants any night of the week. You won’t be disappointed by the ’s still the best.but the whole atmosphere in Greektown has changed.so sad, so sad indeed.□ Please don’t be discouraged by my review and please go to the remaining few eateries that are still here.to support the last of the hard working Greeks who have not been swallowed up by big business.they deserve it.they work long hard hours and try very hard to make it the best experience. The sights, sounds and smells are not the same. This is not how I grew up or remember it. Only a handful of Greek mom and pop restaurants etc. Lovely memories but in Greektown it seems the big Hotel and casino have taken over. But there’s a Starbucks and a burger joint, what the heck is up with that? Took the people mover 3 times around just to see the “Joe” and Cobo Hall. The bakery was wonderful.the couple of restaurants were fantastic. God bless the few families that are hanging on to their family businesses. As a kid we would come visit and often went to the street festival. This certainly is not the same Greektown I remember.
